It Is Simple To Paint Fiberglass Entry Doors
Fiberglass entry doors have a lot of advantages in having doors made out of fiberglass. They generally will not crack, warp or rot. They also provide for more insulation than most wooden doors do. They even can imitate the look of real wood and you can use any color you want to match or accent your home.

In order to be able to do this project you will need supplies to get it done. You will need some acetone or mineral spirits, some mild soap or detergent, no bigger than a four inch paintbrush, acrylic water based latex primer, acrylic water based exterior latex paint, some painters tape and a couple of sawhorses and a screwdriver to help remove the door from the hinges.
Take the door of its hinges. This is not a requirement it just makes the job easier to do. After you have taken the door down, you can place it on the two sawhorses.
Now you need to clean the door. If you paint over dirt the paint will not dry properly and will probably peel off later. Take your rag and dip it into some warm water to remove the initial dirt. The second step in cleaning should be with an acetone soaked rag. Allow it to dry and clean once more with soapy warm water.
Always make sure the door is clean before painting. If you do not do this the paint might have difficulty sticking to the door and may peal off. Take some warm water and wipe the door down with a rag. Take another rag and clean the door with either mineral spirits or acetone. Let the door dry and once it has dried you can do one more cleaning with a rag and some warm water with detergent.
Make sure that the day you choose to paint is a non windy and a non humid day. This will keep your door from getting dirty while you are painting it and it will take less time to dry as well.
The primer that you use to prime the door with should be somewhat lighter in color than the color of the paint, especially if it is a dark paint. Take your brush and with even strokes make sure to go with the grain of the door. After you have finished priming the door you will need to let it dry for at least 24 hours before you can apply your paint.
Once the primer is dry you can begin to paint the door. Use the same kind of brush you used for the primer and put the paint on in the exact same manner in which you applied your primer. You will need to allow the paint to dry for at least another 24 hours.
When you are sure that the door is dry you can remove all of the tape and then put all of the hardware back on the door. If at all possible you really should try to let the door dry for a week so it can completely cure.
